Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of bread (cubed)
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups apples (peeled and sliced)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the dish)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until fully combined.
  3. Add the cubed bread to the egg mixture and gently stir until all pieces are well-coated.
  4. Carefully fold in the sliced apples, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  5. Pour the entire mixture into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle brown sugar on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.
  7. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving, and enjoy with a generous drizzle of maple syrup.

Notes

Consider soaking the bread in the egg mixture longer for better flavor absorption. You can prepare the casserole the night before for convenience.
