Delicious and portable Apple Pie Bars with a buttery crust, tart apples, and a crumbly oat topping.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 cups fresh apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, softened butter, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon until crumbly.
  3. Reserve 1 cup of this mixture for the streusel topping.
  4. Firmly press the remaining mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking dish to form a crust.
  5. In another bowl, toss the peeled and sliced apples with lemon juice and spread over the crust.
  6. Sprinkle the reserved streusel mixture over the apples, then add the oats on top.
  7. Bake for approximately 30-35 minutes until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into squares for serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, or powdered sugar. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
