A comforting Chicken Parmesan recipe that features crispy chicken, gooey cheese, and rich marinara sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

  • 2 boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Generously season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Dip each chicken breast into the beaten egg, ensuring it’s well-coated.
  4. Coat the chicken in the mixture of breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese, pressing down lightly to help it stick.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the breaded chicken for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. In a baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce at the bottom. Place the fried chicken on top and cover it with the remaining marinara sauce.
  7. Generously sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.
  8. Bake in your preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve hot, alongside pasta or a salad.

Notes

For a unique twist, consider swapping the marinara sauce for homemade or using provolone cheese instead of mozzarella.
