A comforting and delicious Baked Chicken Parmesan that combines crispy chicken with gooey cheese and rich marinara sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Set up your breading station: place flour in one shallow bowl, whisk eggs in another, and combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper in a third.
  3. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip into the egg mixture, and coat thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Arrange the breaded chicken on the baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Remove the chicken from the oven and spoon marinara sauce generously over each piece, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  7. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before garnishing with fresh basil and serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure chicken breasts are of similar thickness. You can also use gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed.
