Juicy BBQ pork burgers topped with caramelized onions and melted mozzarella, perfect for weeknight dinners or entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Slider buns
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the ground pork, barbecue sauce, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix gently until just combined and form into small, evenly sized patties.
  2. Warm a tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and caramelized, about 10–12 minutes. Remove the onions and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet over medium heat, add another splash of oil if needed. Place the pork patties in the pan and cook for 5–7 minutes per side, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and the patties are nicely browned.
  4. With a few minutes left of cooking, sprinkle shredded mozzarella over each patty. Cover the skillet or lower the heat so the cheese melts into gooey goodness.
  5. Assemble the sliders: place each pork patty on a slider bun and top with a generous spoonful of the caramelized onions. Serve warm.

Notes

For a spicier kick, mix in a tablespoon of sriracha with the barbecue sauce. Consider using ground turkey or chicken as a lighter alternative.
