A hearty and comforting breakfast casserole made with flaky buttermilk biscuits, savory sausage gravy, and topped with cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can Refrigerated Buttermilk Biscuits
  • 1 lb Ground Breakfast Sausage
  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp Cooking Oil
  • Seasonings to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the cooking oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the ground sausage, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  4. Once browned, sprinkle in the flour and stir continuously for 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour flavor.
  5. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring until the gravy thickens, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. While the gravy thickens, cut the refrigerated biscuits into quarters.
  7. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and layer the biscuit pieces evenly across the bottom.
  8. Pour the sausage gravy mixture over the biscuits, spreading it out evenly.
  9. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and pour them over the casserole.
  10. Add the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the eggs are set and the cheese is golden brown.
  12. Let it cool slightly before serving.
