A classic dish featuring crispy, cheesy chicken smothered in rich marinara sauce, perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-style)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish
  • Olive oil or cooking spray, for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a baking dish with olive oil or cooking spray.
  2. Prepare the chicken: Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to an even thickness for uniform cooking.
  3. Season the chicken: Generously salt and pepper both sides.
  4. Set up your dredging station: Arrange three bowls—one with flour, the second with beaten eggs, and the third with breadcrumbs mixed with oregano and garlic powder.
  5. Coat the chicken: Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip it in the egg, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Pan-fry the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken for 5-6 minutes on each side until it’s golden brown and crispy.
  7. Prepare for baking: Arrange the cooked chicken breasts in the greased baking dish. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece and sprinkle evenly with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake to perfection: Place the baking dish in the oven for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let it rest: Remove from the oven and allow it to rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley.
