A classic Italian-American dish featuring crispy chicken breasts topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs (or panko)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Set up three bowls: one for flour, another for beaten eggs, and the last for breadcrumbs.
  3. Dredge each chicken breast in flour; shake off the excess. Then dip into the egg, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  4. Roll the chicken in breadcrumbs, pressing down gently for an even coating.
  5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Transfer the fried chicken to a baking dish. Pour marinara sauce generously over each piece.
  7. Layer slices of fresh mozzarella on top, followed by a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add Italian herbs to your breadcrumbs. Let the chicken rest after frying for juiciness.
