A classic Italian-American dish featuring juicy chicken, crispy breadcrumbs, and gooey cheese topped with marinara sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1.5 cups shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season the chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Dredge each chicken breast in the all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess.
  4. Dip the floured chicken into the beaten eggs, ensuring a full coating.
  5. Roll the chicken into the Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs until well-coated.
  6. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear the chicken for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Transfer the seared chicken into a baking dish. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece and top generously with mozzarella and grated Parmesan.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the chicken is cooked through.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian twist, swap chicken for eggplant or portobello mushrooms.
