A classic Chicken Parmesan recipe featuring crispy chicken, tangy marinara, and gooey melted cheese. Perfect for a hearty weeknight dinner or a comforting family brunch.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Generously season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Beat the eggs until smooth in one bowl. In another bowl, mix the breadcrumbs and grated parmesan together well.
  4. Dip each chicken breast in the beaten eggs, ensuring it’s fully coated, then transfer it to the breadcrumb mixture for a thorough covering.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the breaded chicken for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Transfer the cooked chicken to a baking dish. Pour marinara sauce over each piece and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes or until the cheese melts and is bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil before serving hot.

Notes

For a healthier version, try baking the chicken without frying first, or use eggplant instead of chicken for a vegetarian option.
