A classic Italian dish featuring crispy chicken coated in breadcrumbs, topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Whisk together the eggs in a shallow bowl, adding a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese in another bowl.
  4. Dip each chicken breast into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry the breaded chicken until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Transfer the browned chicken to a baking dish and top each breast with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the chicken is fully cooked.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil before serving, if desired.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using homemade tomato sauce instead of marinara. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
