A classic Italian-American dish featuring crispy chicken, rich marinara sauce, and melted cheese, perfect for weeknight dinners or special gatherings.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Generously season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. Set up a breading station: place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in a second bowl, and a mix of breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan in a third bowl.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, dip it into the eggs, and roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until well coated.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry each breaded chicken breast for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  6. Spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Arrange the fried chicken on top.
  7. Spoon more marinara sauce over the chicken and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. If desired, garnish with fresh basil and serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying for a golden crust. Experiment with different cheeses or sauces for variations.
