A classic Italian-American dish featuring crispy breaded chicken breasts topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese.

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked pasta for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Beat the egg in a shallow bowl.
  3. Mix the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, salt, and pepper in another bowl.
  4. Dip each chicken breast into the beaten egg, letting the excess drip off, then coat generously in the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear the chicken for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  6. Transfer the chicken to a baking dish and pour marinara sauce over the top, covering the chicken well.
  7. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly.
  9. Serve it over cooked pasta for a hearty meal.

Notes

For best flavor, consider serving with garlic bread and a light red wine.
