Classic Chicken Parmesan

A comforting and satisfying chicken dish topped with marinara and mozzarella, perfect for weeknight dinners or gatherings.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season both sides of the chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Beat the eggs in a shallow bowl until smooth. In another bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  4. Dip each chicken breast into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat thoroughly in the breadcrumb-Parmesan mix.
  5. Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry each chicken breast for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Transfer the fried chicken breasts to a baking dish. Pour marinara sauce over them, followed by a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked and the cheese is melty and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes.
