A comforting creamy garlic Parmesan chicken dish, perfect for weeknight dinners and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season both sides of each chicken breast with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Dredge in flour, shaking off the excess for a light coating.
  2. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once melted, add the chicken breasts and cook for 5 to 7 minutes on each side until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about a minute until fragrant. Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom for added flavor. Let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream, allowing the mixture to come to a gentle simmer. Add the grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning, mixing until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes smooth. Simmer for another 2 to 3 minutes to thicken, tasting for seasoning and adding salt and pepper as needed.
  5. Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the creamy sauce over them. Let everything simmer together for an additional 2 to 3 minutes for the flavors to meld. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For a lighter variation, swap heavy cream for half-and-half. Pair with pasta or mashed potatoes for the best experience.
