A comforting and satisfying dish featuring juicy chicken breasts coated in breadcrumbs, layered with marinara sauce and topped with gooey mozzarella cheese.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Combine breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese in a shallow bowl.
  4. Coat each chicken breast in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Spread a layer of marinara sauce in a baking dish. Place the fried chicken breasts on top.
  7. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the chicken and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil if desired before serving.

Notes

For an extra crispy coating, double-dip the chicken in egg before the breadcrumb mixture. Consider using panko breadcrumbs for added crunch.
