Crispy Chicken Parmesan is a classic dish that combines the crunch of perfectly breaded chicken with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese, making it a true crowd-pleaser for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian seasoned)
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • To taste salt and pepper
  • Olive oil for frying
  • For garnish: fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to an even thickness of 1/2 inch.
  3. Set up your breading station: Flour in one shallow dish, beaten eggs in another, and a mix of breadcrumbs, Parmesan, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in the third.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip it in the beaten eggs, and then coat it with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.
  5. Heat about 1/4 inch of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Carefully add the breaded chicken breasts.
  6. Cook the chicken for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until crispy and golden. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Spread marinara sauce in a baking dish. Layer the chicken on top and spoon more sauce over it. Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella.
  8. Bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, use almond flour instead of all-purpose flour. You can also replace marinara with pesto for a fresh twist.
