A quick and flavorful Mongolian chicken dish that’s perfect for busy weeknights or impressing guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breast, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 cup bell peppers, sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a medium bowl, combine the chicken strips with soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and honey. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes so the chicken absorbs the flavors.
  2. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Sauté the Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and ginger to the oil. Stir for about 30 seconds until the aroma fills the air.
  4. Cook the Chicken: Toss in the marinated chicken strips. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is browned and fully cooked.
  5. Add the Vegetables: Stir in chopped green onions and bell peppers. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, allowing the veggies to become tender yet crisp.
  6. Thicken the Sauce: Mix in the cornstarch and water mixture. Stir for another minute until the sauce thickens and shines.
  7. Serve: Plate your Mongolian chicken over rice or noodles. Enjoy while hot!
