A delightful and easy version of Chicken Parmesan that brings the restaurant experience home with crispy chicken, gooey cheese, and rich marinara sauce.

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season both chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. In a shallow bowl, crack the egg and whisk it lightly. Dip each breast in the egg, allowing excess to drip off.
  4. Next, coat each breast thoroughly in breadcrumbs, ensuring they are well-covered.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and brown for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden.
  6. Carefully transfer the browned chicken to a baking dish.
  7. Pour marinara sauce evenly over each breast. Top with shredded mozzarella and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly.
  9. Once out of the oven, garnish with fresh basil and serve hot.

Notes

For an extra crunch, feel free to swap out breadcrumbs for panko. You can also use store-bought marinara if you’re short on time.
