A quick and delightful dish featuring toasted bread topped with a creamy mixture of egg, cheese, and herbs, perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (white, whole grain, or sourdough)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup grated cheese (cheddar, gruyere, or your choice)
  • 1 tsp finely chopped fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Pinch of cayenne (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F or your air fryer to 370°F.
  2. Lightly toast the bread until golden brown using a toaster or broiler.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat the egg lightly. Add the grated cheese, herbs, salt, pepper, and a pinch of cayenne if desired, stirring until well combined.
  4. Evenly spread the egg mixture over each slice of toast.
  5. For baking: Place the toast on a baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes until golden brown and puffed. For air frying: Cook in the basket for 5–7 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to restore crispiness.
