Delicious and playful French toast sticks, perfect for a family brunch or a comforting breakfast.

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 6 slices thick bread (brioche recommended)

Instructions

  1. Start by slicing the bread into 1-inch wide strips.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, flour, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth and well-blended.
  3. Preheat a non-stick griddle over medium heat and add the butter. Let it melt and coat the surface.
  4. Dip each bread strip into the egg mixture. Make sure they are well-coated but not soaked through.
  5. Place the coated strips on the griddle. Cook them for about 2 minutes per side, until they become a beautiful golden brown.
  6. Serve immediately, topped with syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit as per your preference.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute milk with almond or oat milk. Use day-old bread for better absorption.
