A quick and savory recipe for perfectly grilled Korean chicken breasts, infused with a flavorful marinade.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

  1. Pound the chicken to an even thickness of about ½ inch.
  2. Combine the soy sauce, apple sauce, chopped onion, sesame oil, grated ginger, brown sugar, and crushed garlic in a medium bowl. Add red pepper flakes if desired.
  3. Reserve ¼ cup of the marinade for serving. Pour the remaining marinade into a Ziploc bag with the chicken, seal it, and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Remove the chicken from the marinade and grill for 2-3 minutes on each side until fully cooked, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F.
  6. Serve hot over steamed jasmine rice or quinoa, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

For maximum flavor, marinate overnight. Use a meat thermometer to ensure doneness.
