Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Butter (for greasing)
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the Hawaiian rolls into quarters, and arrange them evenly in the greased baking dish.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl until well incorporated.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the Hawaiian rolls, making sure that each piece is soaked through.
  5. Allow the casserole to sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the delicious liquid.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  7. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar, and drizzled with maple syrup.

Notes

Consider letting the casserole sit in the fridge overnight after mixing for enhanced flavors. Additional toppings like fresh berries, crispy bacon, or whipped cream can elevate the dish.
