Delightful heart-shaped pancakes perfect for special occasions like Valentine’s Day or anniversaries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Maple syrup
  • Whipped cream
  • Crispy bacon (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Gently stir until just combined—don’t worry about a few lumps!
  4. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, lightly greasing it with cooking spray or butter.
  5. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter into the skillet, using a spatula to shape it into a heart.
  6. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip the pancake and cook until golden brown.
  7. Stack the pancakes on a plate and serve warm with fresh strawberries, syrup, and whipped cream. For a savory touch, add crispy bacon on the side if you like.

Notes

Consider using whole wheat flour for a healthier twist. Dairy-free substitutes like almond milk can replace buttermilk if necessary.
