Homemade Chicken Parmesan

A comforting classic featuring golden, crispy chicken, gooey cheese, and rich marinara sauce, perfect for weeknight meals or family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Beat the egg in a bowl. In another bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  4. Dip each chicken breast into the egg, letting excess drip off, then coat fully with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and add the breaded chicken. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and fully cooked.
  6. Spread a layer of marinara sauce in a baking dish and place the cooked chicken on top.
  7. Spoon more marinara sauce over each breast and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For extra crunch, consider double-dipping the chicken in egg and breadcrumbs. Taste the marinara before using to ensure it’s seasoned well.
