Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 (5 ounce) boneless chicken thighs
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ medium onion, finely chopped
  • 7 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 cup honey
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 1 pinch onion powder
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken thighs generously with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken thighs and brown them for about 3–4 minutes on each side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 3 minutes until translucent.
  5. Add the chopped garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the honey and soy sauce, stirring well to combine.
  7. Season the mixture with a pinch of onion powder and garlic powder.
  8. Return the browned chicken thighs to the skillet, ensuring they are well coated with the sauce.
  9. Lower the heat, cover and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, turning occasionally until cooked through and tender.
  10. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro before serving.

Notes

For a leaner cut, swap chicken thighs for breasts. Use low-sodium soy sauce if monitoring salt intake.
