A delightful low-carb twist on the classic orange chicken, featuring crispy chicken coated in a tangy orange sauce, perfect for those following a keto lifestyle.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari (for a gluten-free option)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 12 tbsp erythritol sweetener (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp ginger powder
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine almond flour, salt, and black pepper. Dredge each chicken piece in this mixture to ensure it’s fully coated.
  2. Heat coconut oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through. Set the chicken aside.
  3. In another pan, mix the freshly squeezed orange juice, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, erythritol, garlic powder, and ginger powder. Heat on medium until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Add the fried chicken back to the sauce. Toss gently to coat each piece evenly.
  5. Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

For best results, ensure oil is hot enough before frying to achieve a crispy texture. You can serve it over cauliflower rice or alongside steamed broccoli for a complete meal.
