A classic Italian-American dish with tender chicken breasts, crispy crust, rich marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Set up three shallow dishes: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and the last for a mix of breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
  3. Coat each chicken breast in flour, shaking off any excess.
  4. Dip the floured chicken into the beaten eggs, making sure it’s fully covered.
  5. Roll the chicken in the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
  6. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each piece of chicken for about 4 minutes on each side until they turn a beautiful golden brown.
  7. When browned, transfer the chicken to a baking dish.
  8. Spoon marinara sauce generously over each chicken breast.
  9. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the marinara sauce.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving and enjoy!

Notes

For a lighter dish, consider using skinless chicken thighs and low-fat cheese. Store leftovers in airtight containers for up to 3-4 days.
