A budget-friendly and easy-to-make icing perfect for decorating your holiday cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons meringue powder
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar and meringue powder.
  2. Gradually add water while mixing until the icing reaches a smooth consistency.
  3. If you’d like, add food coloring and mix until it’s evenly incorporated.
  4. Use a piping bag to outline your cookies and fill them in with icing.
  5. Allow the icing to dry for several hours, or until it’s hard.
  6. Decorate as desired and let everything dry completely before packaging or displaying.

Notes

Store extra icing in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Mix in a few drops of water to restore its smooth consistency if it hardens.
