Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, spinach, garlic, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, oregano, salt, pepper, and beaten egg. Mix until combined.
  3. Flatten a handful of the mixture in palm, place a mozzarella cube in the center, and wrap the meat around it to form a ball.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet. Brown meatballs on all sides, then transfer to a baking dish.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes until cooked through and cheese is melted.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, substitute mozzarella with dairy-free cheese and skip Parmesan. Make mini meatballs for appetizers.
