A delightful one-skillet dish featuring juicy chicken in a creamy sauce with garlic and spices, perfect for weeknight dinners or impressing guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pieces boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 4 tablespoons butter (or olive oil)
  • 4 cloves garlic, freshly minced
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Cracked black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup caramelized onions
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley, for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper or a splash of hot sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes and kalamata olives (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter (or olive oil).
  2. Season the chicken with salt, cracked black pepper, and paprika.
  3. Add the chicken to the skillet, searing until golden brown—about 5 minutes per side. Once done, remove the chicken and set it aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for around 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and honey, stirring well to combine.
  6. Reduce the heat and return the chicken to the skillet. Cover and let everything simmer for about 10 minutes.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream and caramelized onions, and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. If desired, sprinkle cheese over the top and allow it to melt before serving.
  9. Garnish with parsley and finish with a drizzle of hot sauce or cayenne for some extra heat!

Notes

Pairs well with mashed potatoes, rice, roasted vegetables, or a green salad. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.
