Delightful bite-sized treats made with spiced apples encased in fluffy dough, perfect for brunch or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chopped apples
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and granulated sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just incorporated. Gently fold in the chopped apples.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Using a spoon, carefully drop small mounds of batter into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Once cooked, remove fritters and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  7. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days.
