Tender chicken thighs coated in a rich barbecue sauce, caramelized to perfection—a beautiful dish for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried mustard
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce, plus more for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine the chicken thighs with the avocado oil, kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and dried mustard in a large sealable container. Toss everything well until the chicken is evenly coated. Marinate for at least one hour, or overnight for maximum flavor.
  2. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Toss the marinated chicken with 1/4 cup of BBQ sauce, ensuring each piece is coated, and lay them out on the baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes, then flip the thighs, brush with the reserved BBQ sauce, and return to the oven for another 10 minutes.
  5. Broil the chicken for an additional 5-6 minutes, watching closely until they are beautifully golden and caramelized.
  6. Serve hot with extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

For juicier chicken, brine the thighs before marinating. Experiment with different BBQ sauces for varied flavors.
