A classic Italian-American dish featuring crispy chicken topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese, perfect for any dinner occasion.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. Beat the eggs in a bowl until well blended. In another bowl, combine breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  4. Dip each chicken breast into the egg wash, ensuring it’s fully coated, then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture for a thorough coating.
  5. Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken breasts for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they turn a beautiful golden brown.
  6. Transfer the fried chicken to a baking dish. Pour marinara sauce over each piece and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the chicken is thoroughly cooked.
  8. Garnish with freshly chopped basil before serving.

Notes

For a spicy version, add red pepper flakes to the breadcrumb mixture. This dish pairs well with spaghetti or a garden salad.
