A classic Italian-American dish featuring crispy chicken cutlets, rich marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a shallow dish, mix together the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip each chicken breast into the beaten egg, allowing any excess to drip off. Then, coat each piece thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the breaded chicken breasts until they turn golden brown, about 4-5 minutes on each side.
  5. Once browned, transfer the chicken to a baking dish. Generously top each piece with marinara sauce followed by a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly.
  7. If desired, garnish with fresh basil before serving. Enjoy!
