Ingredients
Scale
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
1/2 cup almond milk
1 pound turkey sausage
2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, blend Greek yogurt and almond milk until smooth. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1 inch thick. Cut into biscuits of your preferred size and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they’re golden brown on top.
While the biscuits are baking, heat a skillet over medium heat. Brown the turkey sausage until fully cooked through.
In a bowl, combine the cornstarch with chicken broth until smooth. Pour this mixture into the skillet with the cooked sausage. Stir continuously as it cooks, allowing the gravy to thicken.
When the biscuits are ready, serve them warm topped with the hearty sausage gravy.
Notes
Feel free to swap turkey sausage for a vegetarian option and use low-fat Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
