A delightful dish that combines buttery croissants, rich eggs, and savory toppings for a luxurious and comforting breakfast experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large croissants, torn into pieces
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or Swiss)
  • 1 cup cooked sausage or ham, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by greasing a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Layer the torn croissant pieces evenly at the bottom of the greased dish.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and optional nutmeg until everything is well combined.
  4. Stir in the chopped cooked sausage or ham, shredded cheese, and sliced green onions until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the croissants, ensuring every piece is well coated.
  6. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight to allow the flavors to blend.
  7. The next day, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  9. Once done, let the casserole sit for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use day-old croissants for better texture and soak in the egg mixture perfectly. Feel free to add vegetables or use different meats.
