Crispy hash browns made from simple ingredients, perfect for breakfast or as a side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium Russet Potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Butter or Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel the russet potatoes and grate them using a box grater or food processor.
  2. Rinse the grated potatoes under cold water to eliminate excess starch. Drain thoroughly and pat dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  3. In a large skillet, heat your butter or oil over medium-high heat until hot.
  4. Spread the grated potatoes evenly across the skillet.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Cook without stirring for about 5 to 7 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
  6. Carefully flip the hash browns and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes until fully cooked and crispy.
  7. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top just before serving to allow it to melt slightly.

Notes

For an extra crunchy exterior, use a cast-iron skillet. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
